Private label compliance documents for window film: what gets tested, and how the set is built per order
Published Lisa SunShare
The compliance documents a private label window film programme needs are decided by the market and the sales channel the product goes into, so FancyFix builds the set per order instead of publishing one fixed list. For its static cling window film, FancyFix tests the packaging as well as the film: the film, the backing card, the blister shell and the outer carton each carry their own chemical screening report.
Why there is no fixed compliance list
A fixed compliance list cannot exist for private label film, because the same roll of film needs a different document set when it ships to a European retailer, a United States marketplace or a project contractor. The destination market sets the regulations the product is checked against, and the channel sets how the buyer's compliance team wants the evidence filed. FancyFix therefore asks for the market and the channel first and confirms the exact set for that programme, and the documents go to the buyer one-to-one after contact, with no public download.
Product-level test reports and factory-level audits are two separate tracks at FancyFix, and a document set for a private label order is built from the product track. The difference between the two tracks is set out in what a buyer actually has to verify on an eco-friendly window film; this article covers only what goes into the product set.
The packaging is tested, not only the film
A retail pack of window film is several materials, and a chemical screening report on the film says nothing about the card, the plastic shell or the carton around it. FancyFix screens each of those components on its own: the PVC face film, the backing card, the blister shell and the outer carton each have a separate REACH report, and each was screened against the 253 substances of very high concern on the European Chemicals Agency Candidate List. In all four reports, every substance on that list came back at or below 0.1% by weight, and all four passed.
| Pack component | Own REACH screening report | Result |
|---|---|---|
| PVC face film | Yes | Pass |
| Backing card | Yes | Pass |
| Blister shell | Yes | Pass |
| Outer carton | Yes | Pass |
A packaging change is a document change, so a buyer who swaps the blister shell for a printed box, or adds an insert, should expect that new component to be screened in its own right. FancyFix lists the base material of every packaging component on its static cling window film — shrink film in PVC, closing tape in OPP, a paper colour sticker, a coated-paper product label and a corrugated carton — so a compliance team can see which materials a report has to cover before signing a packaging agreement.
What the film itself is made of
A material declaration for FancyFix static cling window film starts from its construction: a PVC face film on a PET release liner, installed by static cling with no adhesive layer. FancyFix adhesive window film uses a PET face film instead, and on a private label order the adhesive is specified to the buyer's requirements, so the material declaration names the adhesive chosen for that order rather than a standard one. Paper packaging components can be supplied through an FSC chain of custody when the programme asks for it.
Whose name is on the report
Under FancyFix private label and OEM, compliance documentation and test reports are prepared in the buyer's name, and where a programme requires reports issued in FancyFix's own name, FancyFix issues them. Which name a buyer needs is usually set by the retailer or marketplace the product is going into, so it is worth settling before the order is placed. How private label differs from OEM and from distribution in what the buyer owns is covered in private label vs OEM vs distribution.
Where FancyFix documents have already been accepted
FancyFix has already prepared compliance documents for programmes selling in the United States, Europe, Australia and Japan. Product we manufacture reaches retail chains like Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, Kmart, and Nitori — under our partners' brands, not ours. The documents behind those programmes were built the same way this article describes: per market, per channel, per pack.
What to send before the document set is built
- Destination market — every country or region the product will be sold in.
- Sales channel — retail chain, online marketplace or project supply, and the retailer's own document requirements if you have them.
- Film line and installation — static cling or adhesive, so the face film and liner are fixed.
- Every packaging component — card, shell, box, insert, label, carton — including any you plan to change later.
- Whose name the reports carry — yours, or FancyFix's.
How FancyFix handles compliance on a private label order
FancyFix prepares compliance documentation for the buyer's market and product line as part of a private label order, not as a separate service. Stock film falls mostly within FancyFix's regular specification, and a buyer can also specify a different film or packaging; a changed material or a new packaging component needs its own screening, and the document set for that order is built to include it. The full scope of product-level and factory-level documentation FancyFix works with is on the capabilities page, and the private label service is described on the private label and OEM page. FAQ
What compliance documents does a private label window film need?
A private label window film needs the documents that its destination market and sales channel require, so there is no single list that fits every order. FancyFix confirms the set after the buyer names the market, the channel and the packaging, and prepares it as part of the order.
Is the packaging tested separately from the window film?
Yes. On FancyFix static cling window film, the backing card, the blister shell and the outer carton each have their own REACH screening report, separate from the report on the PVC face film, and each report covers the 253 substances on the European Chemicals Agency Candidate List.
Can the test reports be issued in our company's name?
Yes. Under FancyFix private label and OEM, compliance documentation and test reports are prepared in the buyer's name; where a programme requires reports in FancyFix's own name instead, FancyFix issues them that way.
